Prologue: So 2017 hunting planning isn’t going to go as planned. At least not 100% what I planned.
“Roll with the punches
Because you know that it’s inevitable
Soon to be unforgettable, yet, totally unpredictable
I’m either calling it quits or you’re calling me out
Its not who or what you know because you’re better with nothing at all.”
Chapter 1: I’m not heading out west to hunt this year.
With 11 Colorado Mule Deer preference points and 5 Elk Preference Points you think I could find a hunt worth adventuring on… Well, sometimes priorities get in the way of adventures and this year, I’ll be looking forward to having 12/5 preference points in Colorado.
Lisa (my amazing wife) is heading back to school, and I’m still doing what I love. Writing music, filming the outdoors, spending time with my family, building a family business, and so much more… If you think that you have to kill a massive whitetail buck, drop a stunning 6×6 bull elk, or harvest a bomber Mulie to be happy, you’re mistaken. Literally EVERY moment in the wild is special when you only have a certain amount of time to spend. So focus on the most important things in life, and if you need help finding that direction, there are more than enough people living it right to help.
So in conclusion, if you are a Western PA deer hunter disappointed that 2017 won’t be the year you harvest your first elk or mule deer with a bow feel free to set goals and expectations but FULLY BE BOUGHT INTO the life you want to live, the family that you cherish, and the reason you wake up every day.
I’m so thankful for my wonderful wife Lisa, my beautiful daughter Juliet, and my partners/friends here at Tradgeeks that keep me centered and keep me pressing on. So as a teaser…… pretty killer project in the oven for Turkey Season. Stay tuned.
